Observing the sun
with a Coronagraph
The sun as we have
seen when viewed in h alpha shows wonderful prominences, and disc
detail. An alternative technique is to use a Coronograph. The
coronograph uses a combination of small H alpha filter, and an
occulting disc to obscure the disc portion of the sun. This highlights
the outer regions of the sun revealing glorious prominences erupting
from the characteristic black disc.
The famous solar astronomer
Wolgang Lille manufactures these fine instruments, and Sirius
Observatories UK are pleased to announce we are now the UK agents
for these fine instruments.
Coronagraph on the
ideal instrument, a Vixen 80mm f11.4. The instrument is configured
for using both a digital camera, and 1.25" eyepiece. No ERF
is required. A 2" vesion is available if required
